The best things come in small packages
Ladies, not all timepieces are about tourbillons, perpetual calenders, moonphases, or minute repeaters. For those who prefer to keep things simple (albeit with an added sparkle), here are five pretties from Baselworld that stood out.
As its name indicates, the Slim d’Hermes collection is a family of rather petite timepieces. The smallest model measures just 25mm and comes in rose gold or steel variations with or without diamonds on the bezel.
The Blancpain Ultra-slim Ladybird comes with a mother-of-pearl dial set with rubies and diamonds. The timepiece houses the world’s smallest automatic movement – a record it has held since its debut in 1956.
The two-year-old Louis Vuitton Tambour Monogram collection flaunts a svelte size this year. The most extravagant model is Tambour Monogram Bijou Riviere, set with 575 diamonds on its dial, case, bezel and strap.
These are the dimensions of Chanel’s Premiere Beige Gold timepiece in the small size, but even the large measures just 20 by 28mm. The 18-carat beige gold case is adorned with 56 brilliant-cut diamonds.
A total of 253 brilliant and baguette-cut diamonds adding up to 15.42 carats adorn the elaborate platinum bracelet of the art deco watch by Harry Winston. The dainty proportions befit this vintage-inspired timepiece.
