A pair of customised shoes by Diamond Walker
The Chinese believe that it’s bad luck to present someone with a pair of shoes, as you’re giving him or her tools to ‘walk away’ from you. And while some may gift shoes on special occasions (while receiving 10 cents from the recipient as a form of ‘payment'), this is one gift you will definitely want to keep for yourself. Founded in 2012, Diamond Walker is best described as a bespoke shoe company that features the best of both Eastern and Western worlds. The brand was founded and is headquartered in Singapore, uses Italian leathers from the top tanneries, collaborates with French Patina artist Landry Lacour, and designs and handcrafts each pair of shoes in South Korea. Upon purchasing the package, you can head to either their China Square Central or Orchardgateway outlets, and decide if you’d like a classic or casual pair. The former includes oxfords, brogues, derbys and monkstraps, while the latter comprises sandals, sneakers, moccasins and loafers. Next, choose from the different colours and patterns of calfskin leather, before deciding if you’d like French Patina master, Landry Lacour, to hand-paint them. Once the design has been decided upon, try on sample shoes to find your preferred shoe cutting, along with the type of heels, and insoles of various heights. All shoes come with a full cowhide inner lining and steel shank-reinforced midsole, and you’ve the option of either full leather soles or synthetic soles. Finally, add a touch of personality by opting to have your initials on the shoes. As a cherry on top of the cake, Diamond Walker is offering Robb Report’s readers a wooden shoebox, complete with a laser-engraving of your name. Ladies aren’t left out in this package though. Those who are interested may wish to customise their own leather sneakers and sandals too.Read More
