Six days in Bhutan with Como Uma and Dassault Falcon
The Dassault Falcon 8X can put you on top of the world with its ceiling of 15,545m, range of 11,945km and a top speed of 685km/hr.
Its cabin pressure – a simulated 11,887m while flying at 12,192m – is significantly lower than most commercial airliners, which means lessened jet lag and fatigue on board.
That would mean the five-hour hop to Bhutan is a cinch for the tri-engined jet, though landing there isn’t exactly easy for regular aircraft. The kingdom’s international airport is located in the deep valley of Paro, with hills at either end of the runway flanked by 5,486m mountains. This is an airfield the Falcon 8X relishes, with its ability to perform steep take-offs and approaches, and having a class-leading slowest approach speed of just 197km/hr.
After landing at the airport, you will be whisked to an eye-popping holiday at two of Como’s acclaimed resorts in the mountain kingdom, Como Uma Paro and Punakha. As part of Como’s Himalayan Explorer bespoke itinerary, you’ll spend six nights in the kingdom, across two Como Uma resorts and three iconic Bhutanese valleys, visiting Thimphu, Punakha and Paro.
Highlights include visits to the National Museum of Bhutan at Ta Dzong, a trip to Bhutan’s religious and commercial heart, Thimphu, and driving through narrow mountain passes with spectacular views of the Himalayas.
The trip will also cover the lushness of Punakha, one of Bhutan’s lower valleys at a paltry 1,200m above sea level and home to bananas, oranges, rice paddies and Chimmi Lhakhang, the fertility temple dedicated to the so-called Divine Madman, a Tibetan Buddhist saint.
A once-in-a-lifetime experience on an amazing jet to an equally amazing country is what this gift promises.Read More
