Hike and bike your way through Myanmar with Lightfoot Travel
While most visit Myanmar for its stunning temples, stupas and monuments, Lightfoot Travel is challenging the intrepid to embark on a different kind of adventure.
Motorbike, kayak, trek and bike your way through the cguntry, exploring the lesser known regions. Your adventure spreads across 11 days, starting at Yangon before going to Lashio, Hsipaw, Naung Cho, Mandalay, Yandao, Pakkoku, Bagan, Heho and Inle Lake.
Go for a leisurely walk through paddy fields, local schools and monasteries in Hsipaw and speak to locals who’ll teach you more about bamboo weaving and cigar rolling. You’ll also make your way through villages, fields and forests, stopping to see one of the most colourful tribes in Shan state, the Palaung. The tribe is known for its tea plantations as well as colourful traditional costumes.
Hold your breath (we kid) as you cross the Gokteik Viaduct. Constructed in 1901, it’s the highest railway bridges in Southeast Asia to date. You’ll enjoy a scenic ride through the mountains, villages and towns, before making your way to Mandalay.
The rest of the trip sees you exploring Mandalay on motorbike, visiting the pottery village of Yandabo, visiting Kyauk Gu Ohnmin cave temple, and taking a boat to Bagan. Thereafter, you’ll fly to Heho before mountain biking to Indein and kayaking on Inle Lake.
