  • Overview Details

It may count Chinese emperor Qian Long as one of its avid collectors and China as one of its most important markets today, but Jaquet Droz has not forgotten its home country. In its recent timepieces, the watchmaker has turned its attention back to Switzerland, taking inspiration from the city of Geneva and the Swiss Alps for its iconic Bird Repeater models.

Shown here is the Bird Repeater Alpine View, inspired by, as its name indicates, the Swiss Alps. The now-ubiquitous feathered family has built its nest in a prime spot to enjoy uninterrupted views of the mountain range this time – the landscape is intricately replicated on the white mother-of-pearl dial by hand-engraving and painting.

When the hour strikes, the adult birds – carved out of 18k white gold with handpainted plumage – faithfully feed their babies and spread their wings as they have done on countless bird repeaters before this. Only eight pieces of this 47-mm timepiece are available worldwide.
