Chateau Petrus Vertical Collection
Ask any Bordeaux wine aficionado about Pomerol, and Chateau Petrus would undoubtedly be mentioned as an undisputed icon of the region — despite the fact that wines of the appellation have never been classified. Regarded for its rarity and prestige, the wine of Chateau Petrus is numbered among Bordeaux’s greatest.
The winemaker at Chateau Petrus is Olivier Berrouet, who oversees the 11.4 hectare vineyard sited on a plateau in the eastern portion of the appellation. Sitting on soil high in iron-rich clay, the vineyard is planted to Merlot, with yields that are among the lowest in Bordeaux. Green harvesting is carried out to ensure concentration and maximum quality, with up to 50 per cent of the crop eliminated in more vigorous years.
As a consequence, the wine of Chateau Petrus is exceptionally rich, powerful, and bold, coupled with great complexity and depth. There are also characters of dark berry, chocolate, and spice. The wine’s ageing potential is remarkable, as can be clearly witnessed in earlier vintages.
This vertical collection offers one bottle of each vintage beginning from 1945 — the year Moueix acquired exclusive selling rights — up to 2010, save for 1956, 1965, and 1991. Those were the years when Chateau Petrus did not produce any vintage.Read More
