Casa Cicheti complements the charm of Singapore’s oldest estate with modern comforts hidden behind nostalgic warmth
The place
The Cicheti Group, which has been redefining the Italian dining experience since 2013, is bringing its passion for the cuisine to the charming neighbourhood of Tiong Bahru.
Casa Cicheti, or “Little House” in Italian, is designed to complement the charm of Singapore’s oldest estate, where a unique juxtaposition of old and new live in harmony. Inside the cosy, inviting interiors of a carefully preserved pre-war flat, modern comforts are hidden behind a veil of nostalgic warmth, ensuring each and every diner feels right at home.
This would be the group’s fifth concept, joining the likes of Bar Cicheti in Keong Saik, Forma in Joo Chiat and the flagship, Cicheti, on Kandahar Street.
“Casa Cicheti isn’t another deep dive into any singular aspect of Italian cuisine,” said Liling Ong, co-founder of The Cicheti Group. “It feels like we are coming full circle—returning to the essence of what we started over a decade ago, but with greater intention, maturity, and in an entirely new neighbourhood.” For Ong, restaurants are more than just places to eat. They are spaces to gather, to create memories and to feel connected—not just to the food, but the people and neighbourhood.
The food
Building on the group’s “hearty, but never fussy” brand of cooking, time-honoured techniques and comforting flavours anchor the menu, but not without new creations to keep things fresh. Look forward to snacks like Casa Pane, a twice-fermented focaccia that’s rosemary-infused and begs to be eaten with a smoked eggplant dip; and Cantabrian Anchovy, a delicacy from Spain’s Bay of Biscay, which goes on a crusty rye baguette, smeared with kombu butter.
Diners will also find joy in Casa Cicheti’s comforting bowls of pasta, such as the Capellini that Hokkien mee lovers would enjoy, and Tajarin, a skinny egg pasta that’s bathed in rich duck ragu. For those who find joy in sharing, there are various pizzas based on a hybrid Neopolitan and Roman dough that’s slow-fermented for a satisfying crunch and earthy undertones, and Veal Milanese, a hefty 500-gram veal loin on the bone, breaded with Parmigiano and fried golden.
The rest
The Cicheti Group loves its wine, and at Casa Cicheti, there is a selection of 80 bottles, lovingly curated by managing director Ronald Kamiyama. For now, the list will champion small producers and lesser-known varietals, perfect for the curious oenophile. Not a fan of wine? The cocktails are just as delightful, and there’s no better way to begin the night than with a glass of Sgroppino, a fun and fizzy blend of lemon sorbet, vodka and verdicchio.
