The Singaporean artist spruces up the luxury hotel’s restaurant with watercolour paintings of everyday ingredients
What do food and flora have in common? Lots in fact, and you don’t even have to think too hard to find the connection. Restaurants with farm-to-fork menus are all the rage, focusing on edible gardens and sustainable and seasonal produce.
To further propel itself as a destination for holistic dining, Verde Kitchen at Hilton Singapore has recently collaborated with local artist Lucinda Law to display her illustrations.
Law is most known for her watercolour paintings and her focus on botanicals. You’ll find artwork of comprising ferns, leaves and fruit flowering on her Instagram page.

For this collaboration, pineapples, bananas, avocados, carrots and even the mushroom are called to model for the easel.
The paintings are displayed in the 32-seat restaurant from now until 4 June, and are available for purchase. A part of the profits will be given to Food from the Heart, an organisation that reaches out to the less-fortunate through food distribution programmes.
Law will also be conducting an Edible Beauty Botanical Art workshop ($158) on Saturday, 28 April from 2pm to 5pm. You’ll learn about illustrating, painting in watercolour, and try your hand at replicating her artwork featured in the restaurant. After the workshop, you’ll also be taken on a private tour of the hotel’s own Vertical Garden by executive chef Vijayakant Shanmugam. Refreshments will be provided.
