Singapore’s best steakhouses that not only bring in the best quality of meats, but also bring out the best of every cut

Craving for a thick, juicy slab of steak, but not sure which restaurant cuts it? Lucky for you, we did some digging (and eating) to make sure you won’t have to bite into a substandard chop anymore. From tomahawks and hanger steaks to the classic ribeye, these are the steakhouses that not only bring in the best quality of meats, but also bring out the best of every cut.

Bar-Roque Grill

Bar-Roque Grill is the modern rotisserie every steak-lover needs to visit – if they haven’t already. Although the steaks here are the definite highlights, such as the Tomahawk or Beef Wellington – all dry-aged onsite and grilled to perfection – the restaurant’s charcuterie, rillettes and terrines are as highly sought after. Make reservations here.

Bedrock Bar and Grill

Bedrock Bar and Grill has been received with great fanfare since it was first opened in 2008, slightly more than a decade ago. Expect to be blown away by signature favourites like the 400-day grain-fed Tomahawk Steak and dry-aged USDA Prime Ribeye, along with sides which hold their own, such as the Bedrock Mac n’ Cheese – al dente macaroni slathered with truffle cheese sauce and charred cheese crust. Make reservations here.

Wakanui Grill Dining Singapore

New Zealand Ocean beef is the acclaimed speciality here – Angus beef grass-fed for 18 months on lush green pastures, along the coastline of the central Canterbury Plains. To complement the high-quality of meat served, all steaks are grilled over Japanese Bincho-tan charcoal, for that added hint of smokiness and char. Make reservations here.

Burnt Ends

At this one Michelin-starred restaurant, enjoy the pleasure of watching your meats cook over open flames in its four-tonne, double-cavity brick kiln. Though more of a modern barbecue house than a steakhouse, it’s one of the only places that serve a mean Onglet (hanger steak) and a heart-stopping Bone Marrow Bun that’s worth every calorie. Make reservations here.

Butcher’s Block

Last February, we had the opportunity to dine at one of the city’s newest upscale steakhouses, Butcher’s Block, and naturally, we can’t wait to return. The Black Market Angus MBS 5 ‘Club Steak’ (sirloin, bone-in) is in order, and so is the Artichoke BBQ (black vinegar dressing), the perfect crowd pleaser and accompaniment to your steak. Make reservations here.

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse, not at all related to Wolfgang Puck, is in fact owned by Wolfgang Zwiener, a former headwaiter who founded the brand in New York City in 2004. The chain serves only the finest USDA Prime Black Angus Beef, which is dry-aged onsite for 28 days – the meat is put through a natural tenderising process in a temperature- and humidity-controlled room, which yields nothing but a rich umami flavour that’s to die for. Make reservations here.
