Louis Vuitton’s World Cup treats for luxe-loving soccer fans include collectible trunks and specially designed Keepall bags
With the World Cup in full swing, luxury brands from Hublot to Gosha Rubchinskiy are happily capitalising on soccer fever, producing limited edition pieces or collections to celebrate soccer’s biggest event.
Louis Vuitton is neither a stranger to the sporting extravaganza, nor to the collaborative process. The luggage behemoth has partnered FIFA since the 2010 World Cup.
For the 2018 World Cup, Vuitton not only produced the trophy case, but also a collectible trunk and, at the entry level, several variations of its iconic Keepall and Apollo bags.
The special order trophy case made its debut at last week’s opening match. Designed for the trophy’s safe transport and display, it will also appear at the final match on 15 July.
For diehard fans yearning for World Cup memorabilia, there’s the limited edition Official Match Ball Collection Trunk.
Based on Vuitton’s traditional wardrobe trunks, this version opens to reveal 13 soccer balls. Twelve of them are re-editions of official match balls used at every World Cup since 1970, produced by adidas. The 13th one, in monochrome beige leather, is designed by Vuitton.
Finally, there are also utilitarian backpacks, duffels and small leather goods for World Cup fans to express their enthusiasm.
Crafted from Epi leather, the bags, wallets and pouches sport designs based on the classic 32-panel football. The initials ‘L.V’ – lettering first used on Gaston-Louis Vuitton (1883-1970)’s personal trunks – are reinterpreted as team initials.
For something more subtle, there are luggage tags designed like flags, so you can show support for your favourite team.
