An idyllic life at sea awaits for those looking for a luxury yacht charter
It’s no secret that island hopping is best done by boat. And I’m not just talking about day trips. In fact, you’ll get the best mileage by living on a boat. Small luxury charters (mostly in the shape of Phinisis, a type of local boat) such as Rascal Charters have popped up along the coast of Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. But none have wowed us as much as the upcoming Ayana Lako Di’as. This is a new luxury charter by Ayana Komodo Resort.
For one, it’s said to be the largest Phinisi to have been built from scratch. And that’s not just describing its length (54m) nor height (39m, including sails). It houses nine ensuite cabins, a large deck at the bow that’s perfect for sunbathing and catching the last rays of the sun, along with cosy air-conditioned dining and living areas.
Of course, water activities, gourmet meals and limitless sea adventures await. But when you feel like winding down and relaxing, head to the luxurious in-house spa for a customised massage, body treatment and facial.
Now, I don’t know about you, but the best bit about staying on a yacht charter is that you’ll only visit places at the best time possible. Strong currents at a particular spot today that isn’t ideal for scuba diving? No problem, the crew will divert and take you back tomorrow when it’s calmer. Want to find a private beach for a seafood barbecue? Consider that done.
Ayana Lako Di’as on Komodo Island currently offers two, three and five-night excursions. But private charters for longer stays can also be had should you wish to explore other islands.
Of course, those who prefer to stay on land have the option of putting up at Ayana Komodo Resort, Waecicu Beach. The hotel comprises 192 guest rooms and 13 suites, with each boasting sunset views, and panoramic snapshots of the ocean.
Those who’ve visited Ayana Bali would also remember the resort for its sheer number of pools (12!). While this resort doesn’t have that number, it has two main swimming pools, and a separate one for your kiddos.
The resort also looks out to the private pier (where Ayana Lako Di’as is docked), and I’d suggest taking an evening stroll. Thirsty? Make a pitstop at the bar on the pier, and the bartender will concoct a delightful pre-dinner drink for you.
