Two’s company
Now that you’ve decided which prefectures to visit for hanami, the next step is deciding what to pack for your picnic in the park.
While Japan has no lack of seasonal produce (think Sakura-flavoured kit kats, sweet treats, French fries, beer and even curry), TWG Tea’s latest collection is one we’ll include in our basket.
Green tea leaves are blended with Rainer cherry and sweet florals, resulting in an aroma that beckons spring’s arrival. Playfully named Always Sakura Tea (S$40), the leaves are encased in an eye-catching baby pink collectable tin.
Those with the sweet tooth may also like to purchase the Always Sakura Tea macarons (six pieces for S$12). The Amarena cherry centre is enveloped by a cherry blossom ganache, and gives a pop to the rosy-hued shells. While they may not last the journey from home to Japan, they’ll definitely make a perfect in-flight accompaniment.
