Range Rover looks to Greek mythology and the cosmos for design inspiration in its new limited collection
The first of its kind, Range Rover has unveiled a highly exclusive collection of five bespoke Sport SV models, with each trim themed around ancient Greek mythology and the cosmos: Gaea, Theia, Io, Vega, and Sol. While luxuriously and meticulously conceptualised by the Range Rover SV Bespoke design team, these five models don’t sacrifice performance for aesthetics; all vehicles feature 23-inch wheels, heat-resistant carbon ceramic brakes, and a carbon fibre bonnet for reduced weight.
“Today’s discerning luxury clients are looking for more than just aesthetics – we want to create vehicles with which they form personal connections and bonds,” says Geraldine Ingham, managing director at Range Rover. “The Celestial Collection from Range Rover SV is an ethereal and unique collection of some of our most luxurious vehicles, each beautifully crafted and considered, for the clients who value meaning, spirituality and storytelling.”
Taking inspiration from both land and sea, Gaea features a Green Terre Matte exterior paint finish. Denoted on the vehicle is a slanted symbol, representative of a wave against land. It features carbon-fibre exhaust tips, bronze ceramic brake calipers, a black roof and a distinctive badging. Personalisation options for the interior are aplenty, and also nods to the overarching Earth theme.
Theia is dedicated to the namesake Titaness in ancient mythology, daughter of Uranus and Gaea. The representative symbol found on headrests and the console represents sight and light, tying back to the theme in more ways than one: Theia’s watchful eye, craters of the moon, or constellations. Its exterior paint job is a warm-toned Ilmenite Grey Satin with a hint of metallic flakes, drawing inspiration from the moon. On its wheels, the 23-inch forged rims is finished in champagne gold and accompanied by complementary black carbon ceramic brake calipers.
Io, one of Zeus’ lovers in Greek mythology, is also a moon of Jupiter in real life with over 400 active volcanoes. Cyllene Gloss is reminiscent of Io’s surface which constantly undergoes volcanic change–the vehicle’s gloss, viewed under different lighting and angles, echoes the same aesthetic. The Twill carbon fibre gloss rims and complementary bespoke silver carbon ceramic brake calipers tie up the whole look.
Named after one of the brightest stars in the Lyra Constellation, the exterior blue gloss colour on the car draws inspiration from the blue in the spectrum of its namesake star. The word ‘Vega’ altered from Arabic translates to “the descending eagle”, giving meaning to the unique symbol on this Range Rover with a downward-facing wing-like symbol.
Visually striking and dramatic, the Aurora Yellow glossy exterior doesn’t just display the power of the sun–it’s also a tribute to the Aurora Borealis, hinted at with the subtle green hues in the yellow paintwork. On the interior, clients can opt between two configurations to suit their preferences: navy Windsor leather with Light Cloud contrasted stitching and matching carpet mats, or a vegan leather ebony interior with contrasting Nano-Yellow stitches and satin forged carbon fibre seat backboards and finishing.
