But the story changes when it’s opened by a renowned restaurateur who knows what they’re doing, such as Beppe De Vito, the chef-owner of the ilLido Group, the same group that is known for concepts like Amò and Southbridge.

Adding new life to Singapore’s central business district is Sospiri, a restaurant and rooftop bar that draws its name from De Vito’s favourite childhood dessert from Puglia. Located on the seventh floor of the newly constructed IOI Central Boulevard Towers, Sospiri will satiate you not only with panoramic views of the city, but authentic Southern Italian food within a comfy Mediterranean-like environment.

Like its Roman holiday home-inspired interior, every bite at Sospiri reflects rich tradition and sun-drenched flavours, as the head chef (Michelin-starred Matteo Ponti) will endeavour to deliver. There is something for everyone, from the antipasti and diverse range of handmade pasta dishes to the gorgeous fish and meat dishes (highlights include the Polpo alla Griglia and Abbacchio alla Griglia). For dessert, one can indulge in classics like the Diplomatica, a liquor-infused sponge and puff pastry, or the Sospiri al Pistacchio, angel cake puffs filled with Bronte pistachio Chantilly.

While the night’s still young, proceed to the rooftop bar for cocktails and if the belly can stomach it, the Italian bar snacks. The bar, which seats 60 (the restaurant seats 128), offers a more relaxed setting complete with an all-Italian selection of wines, beers and spirit-forward cocktails, and a DJ spinning away.
