Now available in Singapore: the new BMW i4 offers emission-free mobility, while the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe brings forth the German marque’s sporting elegance
BMW Asia has unveiled two new additions to its premium midsize 4 Series line: the all-electric gran coupe BMW i4, and the BMW 420i Gran Coupe that comes with an in-line four under the hood.
“At BMW, we firmly believe in the power of choice,” said Lars Nielsen, managing director of BMW Group Asia. “With these fresh updates, we are confident that the new BMW i4 and BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé will continue to set the benchmark in the premium midsize class.”
Both the new additions will be assembled in the marque’s Munich plant, which is geared towards a transformation into a production facility that exclusively builds the group’s all-electric models. To power the production of the vehicles, green electricity will be generated and supplied by hydroelectric power stations in the region of the plant.
The new models come with a refreshed exterior design that adds a sporty and classy flair. New designs for the signature kidney grille brings an additional visual impact to the brand features, complemented by a newer, slimmer headlight design. The i4 features a front grille with its upper section fully enclosed, made possible from the low cooling requirements of its electric drive system. All new i4 and 4 Series Gran Coupe models are now fitted with a highly expressive rear Laserlight, which was first seen on the BMW M4 CSL. The innovative lighting effect employs laser diodes in creating intricate lighting graphics on the rear tail lights. Clients can also look forward to a larger selection of exterior paint finishes with new shades being added to the catalogue.
The interior of the new models exude a luxurious and sporty appeal, with top quality materials being used; updates have been made to elements like the seats, adjustment controls in the cockpit, interior trim elements, and more. Coming standard in all new models moving forward, the ambient lighting system can be adjusted for colour and brightness to suit each user’s personal preferences.
For drivers looking to make the switch to an electric vehicle (EV), BMW Asia is extending comprehensive charging packages for customers purchasing an EV from BMW. The home charging package includes complimentary installation of a BMW Wallbox, while the public charging provides customers the option of a subscription-based package of 10,000 kWh (equivalent to roughly 50,000 km of driving range), valid over three years at any Shell Recharge stations all over Singapore.
Accurate at time of press, the retail price of the BMW 420i Gran Coupe is S$331,000, the BMW i4 eDrive35 is S$337,888, and the range-topping model BMW i4 M50 xDrive comes with a price tag of S$445,888. Interested buyers looking to book a test drive of the newly released vehicles can do so here.
