It’s a creative reshuffle. Following the departure of Matthieu Blazy, Bottega Veneta appoints Louis Trotter as its new creative director

It’s been almost three years since Daniel Lee left Bottega Veneta, ushering in Matthieu Blazy as his successor. Today, both the maison and Blazy share quite the news: he is departing for Chanel, prompting the appointment of Louis Trotter as Bottega Veneta’s next creative visionary.

In his new role as artistic director of Fashion Activities, Blazy will be responsible for Chanel’s haute couture, ready-to-wear, and accessories collections. Based in Paris and reporting to Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel Fashion and Chanel SAS, Blazy will officially assume his responsibilities in 2025. “I am thrilled and honoured to join the wonderful House of Chanel. I look forward to meeting all the teams and writing this new chapter together,” Blazy shares.

With a decade of experience in fashion—shaped by creative roles at Céline, Calvin Klein, and Bottega Veneta—Blazy is poised to bring his distinctive vision to Chanel. “Matthieu Blazy is one of the most gifted designers of his generation,” said Alain Wertheimer and Leena Nair, Chanel’s global executive chairman and CEO, respectively. “His vision and talent will strengthen the energy of the brand and our position as a leader in luxury.”

While the French luxury house prepares for Blazy’s induction, Bottega Veneta readies itself for his successor. “As we welcome Louis, we extend our gratitude to Matthieu Blazy for his transformative contributions during his three years as creative director, and we wish him every success in his future endeavours,” states the Italian fashion house.

Come 2025, Trotter will embark on a new chapter in Bottega Veneta’s creative journey. The former creative director of Carven is expected to bring her ability to draw inspiration from real life and her meticulous approach to craftsmanship to the brand.

“Her aesthetic seamlessly combines exquisite design with sublime craft and her commitment to cultural advocacy aligns beautifully with our brand vision,” notes Leo Rongone, CEO of Bottega Veneta. “Through her sophisticated lens, Bottega Veneta will continue to celebrate its heritage while preserving modern relevance.”

Francesca Bellettini, Kering deputy CEO of Brand Development adds, “Louise brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to Bottega Veneta’s tradition of bold creativity and unparalleled excellence. She is the ideal creative talent to carry forward, alongside Leo Rongone and the Bottega Veneta team, the remarkable journey initiated with Matthieu Blazy, to whom I extend my heartfelt gratitude for his visionary creativity.”

As both creatives excitedly gear up for their debut collections at their respective new maisons, we can expect nothing short of artistic brilliance—though launch dates remain under wraps.
