Brands like Fendi and Burberry are grooming a new generation of fashion mavens with luxury fashion for kids
With the community of Sephora Kids (tweenagers obsessed with skincare) growing at a formidable rate, we can expect the same fervour for fashion to follow suit. While certain skincare products may be harmful to the health of a preadolescent child, fashion, in itself, does not pose the same physical risks—and we are here for it.
Luxury brands have long anticipated this shift, creating miniature versions of their iconic designs. From Gucci’s Princetown Slipper to Burberry’s Check Wool Cardigan, these fashion houses are blurring the lines between adult and kidswear collections. Retailers and e-commerce giants are taking note, too. Net-a-Porter recently launched a dedicated kidswear section, featuring brands like Balmain Kids and Stella McCartney’s ethically crafted designs. Seasonality has now become a hallmark of kids’ fashion, mirroring the adult fashion calendar.
Here are some recent launches, elevating kidswear from an afterthought to a key segment of the fashion industry.
Baby Dior Lunar New Year collection
Red is synonymous with the Lunar New Year and, coincidentally, embodies “the colour of life” for Dior. Dreamed up by artistic director of Dior, Cordelia de Castellane, this collection melds the tradition of the festivity with the maison’s, housing ready-to-wear to accessories in the hue. Enhanced by subtle touches of gold while highlighting the houndstooth motif, emblematic of Dior elegance, the pieces–including sweatshirts, enveloping knits, dresses and skirts–are alternately punctuated with the “Dior” signature or precious embroidery of the bee, an eternal Dior symbol. Complementary little pieces, such as a bob and socks, imbue the wardrobe with tenderness and enchantment.
Fendi Kids Spring Summer 2025 collection
The collection embraces an adventurous outdoor spirit, drawing inspiration from forest rangers and boy scout uniforms. Vibrant Fendi patches embellish go-to jackets and bermuda shorts for boys, while mini skirts and outerwear for girls bring the same rugged charm to life. The theme extends to trompe-l’oeil printed bandanas cleverly tied around necklines and whimsical designs of Fendi-land maps and campfire scenes adorning t-shirts and sweatshirts. Rounding up the collection are backpacks featuring forest-inspired prints and adventure-ready hats, alongside toy baskets fashioned with charming squirrel motifs and subtle FF logos.
Wrapped in Burberry: Childrenswear Remake Capsule
Burberry has been dressing younger generations for centuries, creating collections fashioned from leftover fabrics and yarns. With the Remake capsule, the brand continues its vision of circularity in childrenswear through a selection of ready-to-wear pieces in miniature proportions. Outerwear styles, jersey hoodies, sweatshirts, and mouliné knits boast playful reinterpretations of Burberry motifs, including the duck and Thomas Bear teddy. Select designs introduce a “multiple owners” label, encouraging garments to be passed down and cherished.
Dolce & Gabbana Kids Spring Summer 2025 collections
The SS25 collections blend elegance, modernity, and versatility across styles for every occasion. The Everyday girls’ line showcases vibrant floral and rose prints alongside refined striped and denim looks. Farfalle captures freedom with ethereal light blue prints, casual chic denim, and crochet designs featuring nature-inspired stripes. For boys, Italian Holiday reimagines retro graphic tees with futuristic flair, paired with accessories like scarves and bucket hats, and offers elegant yet casual ensembles with sweatshirts, cotton cargos, and jogging styles. Meanwhile, Riviera embraces a maritime theme, combining painterly stripes with natural fabrics like linen and cotton for sophisticated yet adventurous outfits.
As the intersection of luxury and kidswear evolves, one thing is clear: the playground has never looked so chic.
