From 7 April, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez will take on full creative responsibility for all Loewe collections, including womenswear, menswear, leather goods, and accessories
It’s been exactly a week since Loewe announced Jonathan Anderson’s departure, and the maison has wasted no time in appointing his successor, or successors, in this case. Earlier today, Loewe revealed that the new creative direction will be entrusted to the founders of Proenza Schouler, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. Both are graduates of Parsons School of Design and come with a wealth of accolades, including five CFDA ‘Designer of the Year’ awards and multiple honours for their contributions to accessories.
Anderson’s departure marks the end of an era for Loewe, a period that transformed the house into a cultural and creative powerhouse. The appointment of both McCollough and Hernandez reflects the scale of this transition, with Loewe opting for two dynamic visionaries to continue shaping the future of this storied maison. Anderson’s profound influence on the house cannot be overstated, and it is clear that Loewe is taking a considered approach in selecting leaders who can build upon and evolve his legacy.
In a statement, Pascale Lepoivre, CEO of Loewe, expressed her excitement at the appointment, saying, “I am delighted to welcome Jack and Lazaro to Loewe. Their vision and creativity are a perfect match for the codes of the house that we have built, and I am excited to see them shape its future.”
For McCollough and Hernandez, the opportunity to lead Loewe is one they approach with deep respect for the legacy of the house. The duo expressed their gratitude in a joint statement: “We are incredibly honoured to join Loewe, a House whose values and mission align closely with our own. We look forward to working alongside its extraordinary teams and artisans, whose talent—under the exceptional creative direction of Jonathan Anderson—has shaped Loewe into the cultural force it is today. We extend our sincere gratitude to Bernard Arnault, Delphine Arnault, Sidney Toledano, and to Pascale Lepoivre for entrusting us with this remarkable house’s next chapter.”
Sidney Toledano, Chairman and CEO of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, also shared his thoughts, praising the duo for their eclectic creativity and commitment to craftsmanship. “I have long admired Jack and Lazaro’s work at Proenza Schouler. Their ability to seamlessly fuse innovation with a deep respect for tradition makes them the natural choice to shape the next chapter of Loewe. I look forward to seeing them lead the evolution of the house.”
Loewe’s new chapter begins with McCollough and Hernandez at the helm, who will have full creative responsibility for the entire brand. Their shared vision promises to build upon the storied history of Loewe while pushing the boundaries of modern luxury in exciting, new directions.
