Orient Express’s two new adventures spotlight some of Italy’s best courses

Orient Express wants to take you to Italy’s finest greens in a truly extravagant fashion.

The luxury train company, owned by French hospitality brand Accor, has just unveiled new golf-focused itineraries for the 12-carriage La Dolce Vita Orient Express. Created in partnership with the Italian Golf Federation (FIG), the two adventures were designed to help cement Italy as a top golfing destination by showcasing the best courses the boot-shaped country has to offer.

Kicking off this October, the Northern Greens itinerary includes stops at four renowned golf clubs in the north of the country. Following a welcome reception in the La Dolce Vita Lounge in Rome’s Ostiense Station, guests will be whisked away to the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club. Located just outside the city, the club famously hosted the 2023 Ryder Cup and is a great place for a round or two. The train will then stop at the Franciacorta Golf Club in Brescia, the Royal Park I Roveri in Fiano, the Antognolla Golf Club in Perugia, or the Terme di Saturnia Natural SPA & Golf Resort in Tuscany.

Taking place in November, the Italian Swing voyage spotlights the central and southern regions of Italy. Golfers will have the opportunity to tee off at the San Domenico Golf Club in Puglia (pictured top), the Club at Castiglion del Bosco in Tuscany, and the Argentario Golf Club. The latter is Italy’s only PGA-licensed facility.

The itineraries will not only include plenty of competitive play but also bespoke technical masterclasses to help you improve your game. There will also be an internationally renowned professional golfer present on each journey so you can get some pointers along the way.

Travellers can expect exceptional Italian hospitality both on and off the green. Each club will offer high-tech gear and high-end cuisine, while the train includes impeccable personalised service and plush facilities.

As the moniker suggests, La Dolce Vita is all about enjoying the good life. The train features 12 Deluxe cabins, 18 suites, and one suitably lavish La Dolce Vita Suite. It is also equipped with an elegant dining car and a glitzy bar from which guests can soak in the incredible Italian landscapes. Michelin three-star Chef Heinz Beck is responsible for the culinary offering, which includes everything from traditional Italian delicacies to classic aperitivo. Nothing like an Aperol Spritz to cap off a round.

La Dolce Vita Orient Express only debuted this past April. The train currently offers eight other itineraries throughout Italy. Bookings can be made via the Orient Express website. Cabin rates start from €3,100.
