In 1969, a Mexican by the name of Enrique Corcuera, built walls around a tennis court to keep the balls in bounds, leading to padel, an immensely popular sport that likens to tennis and squash. Widely loved for its social and inclusive nature, it is now one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, and has now reached Club Med’s shores, commemorating the brand’s 75th anniversary with the inaugural Club Med Padel Cup.

The Club Med Prime Open, which kicked off last August at Prime Padel Dempsey, Singapore, saw nearly 1,000 spectators cheering on 112 teams competing in 169 matches. The two winners, who emerged as Singapore’s champions, will go on to represent the nation at the Grand Slam at Club Med Bali (6 to 9 November 2025), and battle it out with others from Seoul, Bangkok and Sydney. While the ultimate goal would be to win Babolat gear and a five-night stay at Club Med Marbella, Spain, participants can also look forward to exclusive training with Babolat pro-athletes to sharpen those padelling skills.

“Padel is more than a sport—it’s a way for people to connect around a shared passion,” said Olivier Monceau, managing director of Club Med Singapore and Malaysia. “By introducing padel across our sun resorts—currently available at our resorts in Bali, Bintan, Phuket, and the Maldives, with more to come—we celebrate the momentum behind this sport and open new opportunities for our guests to enjoy it. As part of our 75th anniversary, the launch of the Padel Cup reflects Club Med’s commitment to supporting the development of lifestyle sports and to creating experiences that bring joy, connection, and freedom—that’s l’Esprit Libre.”
