Date night: Capasso is built for grown-up nights out

By Robb Report Singapore 20 March, 2026

An intimate, mood-lit dining room, a whisky-forward bar, and even a cigar room tucked away at the back, Capasso is built for the grown-ups. Now with a new Singaporean chef at the helm, the kitchen is putting a bolder, more hybrid spin on Italian comfort food (including the odd curveball like a laksa-leaning risotto)

What’s the story?

Capasso feels like the kind of place you “discover” on a date. It’s Italian in silhouette—crudo, pasta, steaks, fish—but the chef’s approach favours punchier flavours and unexpected pairings, which show up throughout the menus (think everything from chocolate-paloma accents on tuna to charcoal-infused beef presentations).

What’s the food like?

The Tagliere dei Salumi is a solid opener for two: cold cuts made more playful with fruit-and-acid touches like white peach salsa and white balsamic, melon-poached apple, and orange-spiced pineapple.

From there, go for the plates that lean into Capasso’s “bold twist” identity. The grilled king oyster mushroom, paired with garlic toum, marinated tomato and pickled chilli, hits that satisfying sweet spot between clean and indulgent–and is genuinely a better-than-usual “vegetable main” moment.

If you’re here for the classics, the Tagliatelle Bolognese keeps things comfortable, with wagyu bolognese and a Parmesan finish. On the seafood side, the menu points you towards richer, more modern combinations, like black cod matched with grilled baby cos and a glossy jus, or beurre blanc treatment, depending on which menu you’re on.

What else is there to know?

Don’t feel like making decisions? There’s a Chef’s Degustation menu (S$128++ per person) that covers the restaurant’s greatest hits across antipasto to sweets. And if you’re planning a longer night: start in the whisky/wine bar area, then let dinner do its thing before slipping towards that cigar room finale, if that’s your kind of romance.
