Jean Paul Gaultier celebrates Pride Month with a new fragrance

By Amos Chin 22 June, 2026

Marking the occasion are two new bottles: Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Pride Edition and Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Pride Edition

This Pride season, the French maison revisits one of its most enduring declarations with a new fragrance release that celebrates not only self-expression but also the importance of visibility, protection, and freedom.

At the centre of the launch is a slogan that dates back nearly three decades. In 1996, six years after the death of his partner, Francis Menuge, the eponymous founder boldly introduced the phrase “Safe Sex Forever” into his Spring Summer 1996 “Cyberbaba” collection—a message that transformed advocacy into design. At a time when fashion was largely silent on the realities of the AIDS crisis, Gaultier used his runway as a platform, turning three simple words into a recurring motif that appeared across garments, accessories, and campaigns.

Now, the statement returns for the house’s latest olfactory portraits.

The celebration introduces two newly dressed bottles—Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Pride Edition and Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male Pride Edition—both covered in handwritten inscriptions inspired by the aforementioned collection. The effect is reminiscent of a public wall layered with messages of solidarity and self-expression, transforming the brand’s iconic silhouettes into wearable manifestos. Even the collectable metal cans have been reimagined, finished with mirrored surfaces and engraved graphics that amplify the collection’s unapologetic spirit.

Beyond its visual identity, the launch also marks the arrival of a new shared fragrance composition. The scent opens with the invigorating freshness of mint before unfolding into the luminous warmth of mimosa. Almond introduces a softer, more enveloping dimension, lending a creamy richness that balances the fragrance’s bright green floral character. What one can expect is a contemporary, uplifting, and intentionally gender-inclusive scent—a composition designed to transcend traditional fragrance categories.

The most meaningful aspect of the release, though, goes beyond the bottles and scent themselves. In keeping with the house’s longstanding commitment to LGBTQIA+ communities, Jean Paul Gaultier has partnered with charitable organisations around the world, aligning the launch with initiatives intended to create tangible impact.
