A modern retreat begins a new chapter in Chianti, the sun-drenched hill country of Tuscany

Brought to you by Chapter Italia, the retreat brings contemporary design and social spirit to the Italian countryside for the first time

Just in time for Tuscany‘s harvest season, a new modern retreat is now open to lovers of wine and all things Chianti. Set within a restored borgo from the 17th century, Chapter Chianti spans over 50 hectares of rolling vineyards, olive groves and manicured gardens, bringing Chapter Italia’s signature energy, contemporary design and social spirit to the Italian countryside for the first time.

The design

Designed by Tristan du Plessis with a deep respect for the estate’s history and people who once worked the land, the 82-key retreat reimagines a traditional working farm through a contemporary lens. From the arrival hall to the rooms, suites and restaurants, you will see a celebration of texture, materiality and enduring craftsmanship, with the old and new in harmonious coexistence. Original stone staircases and vaulted ceilings have been carefully preserved, while furniture handmade are made by local craftsmen and custom lighting by DCW Editions and Marset. There’s even bespoke artwork by up-and-coming artists, bringing an expressive, playful touch to the decor.

The rooms

There are 82 rooms and suites, from cosy, garden-view standard rooms and deluxe rooms to three-bedroom suites with private gardens and expansive indoor-outdoor living areas. To top that, there will soon be The Mansion, a five-bedroom villa complete with its own outdoor pool, private butler and chef on demand.

The food

Of course, in a region so dedicated to seasonal food, one must dine well at Chapter Chianti. Osso, named after the Italian word for “bone”, brings soulful Italian cuisine to the table, making its love of meat and regional produce known. Pair your meal with something from the 120-bottle wine list, and round the night off with something from the Main Bar, where cocktails and live entertainment await. In the day, guests can pad the stomach with Mediterranean-inspired bites from the Parasole Pool Bar, and those who yearn for spice will soon (this 2027) have tacos and empanadas at Hey Güey, a beloved Mexican restaurant from sister hotel Chapter Roma.

The rest

Chapter Chianti takes equal pride in its wellness offerings. FARM Social (or as they call it, “Forever a Relaxed Mood”), the brand’s debut spa concept, features an indoor pool circuit based on ancient Roman bathhouses, a Turkish steam bath, dry hammam, padel court and more. Personal training is available on request, and bespoke 111 Skin facials and massages are available for the ultimate self-pampering.

Beyond that, guests are also invited to partake in activities, such as horseback riding through vineyards, truffle hunting, olive oil harvesting and hot air balloon excursions. One could also blend and bottle their own signature scent, or learn the art of pizza making from Daniele Auricchio, the chef in charge of Osso.
