Location, location, location. Set on the Riva degli Schiavoni with stunning views of San Giorgio Maggiore, the newly reopened Danieli, Venezia, A Four Seasons Hotel sure has plenty going for it.
First built in the 14th century as Palazzo Dandolo before spending decades as Hotel Danieli, the hotel is prized for many things: its breathtaking Venetian Gothic architecture, opulent atrium staircase and two century-old guest book of famous artists, writers and royalty.
After months of meticulous restoration, the hotel now offers guests to experience the grandeur of Venice in an entirely new way. Throughout the majestic space, one will notice the careful balance of history, light and materials. There are echoes of the city’s marble façades, plasterwork and architecture, and it is hard to ignore the ceiling with its fully restored, hand-painted gilding tracing a quatrefoil pattern against an azure blue. Intaglios, Venetians engravings and thoughtfully composed decorative objects reinterpret the city’s artistic heritage, shaping the residential spaces that evoke the elegance of a historic palazzo.
There are currently 120 rooms and suites overlooking the Venetian Lagoon, city’s canals and its rooftops, each offering a different perspective of The Floating City. Beyond that, guests can experience Venice through Terrazza Danieli, a celebrated rooftop restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, and the bar, where the timeless ritual of the Italian aperitivo must be savoured.
