In this year’s Best of the Best, the Hongqi E-HS9 claims the title of Best Luxury Arrival
For decades, China’s ruling echelons and state dignitaries have travelled in the distinguished comfort of Hongqi. This year, the historic marque finally brought its vision of eastern luxury to Singapore. Unveiled at the Singapore Motorshow 2026, its flagship all-electric luxury SUV, the E-HS9, earns our debut Luxury Arrival Award by upending the ultra-premium automotive landscape.
Widely referred to as the Rolls-Royce of China, the E-HS9 carries a ceremonial, commanding presence that draws immediate visual comparison to Rolls-Royce’s Cullinan. Hardly a coincidence: both vehicles share the same visionary architect. Under the creative direction of Giles Taylor, previously chief designer at Rolls-Royce, the E-HS9 carries immense aesthetic gravitas. From its striking matrix LED headlights and its iconic illuminated Red Line motif to the signature C-pillar LED light bars that display the vehicle’s battery status at a glance, the SUV is a genuine showstopper. Beneath its imposing exterior sits a next-generation EV. Drawing on a colossal 120 kWh battery, the E-HS9 delivers 492 bhp and 606 Nm of torque for whisper-quiet cruising with a range of up to 570 km. The cabin, in turn, forms a serene sanctuary, with passengers treated to a panoramic intelligent display, one of the segment’s widest sunroofs, and premium leather seats with extensive ventilation and massage functions.
Yet the most astonishing metric of the E-HS9 may be its market positioning. While traditional ultra-luxury SUVs command stratospheric seven-figure price tags in Singapore, the E-HS9 arrives via Eurokars Group at roughly half a million dollars, inclusive of COE. It delivers the artistry, imposing scale, and technological sophistication of the world’s most elite luxury marques at a fraction of the cost.
