Bellinis and Banana Leaves

The shop-’til-you-drop buzz of Orchard Road is all well and good. But when it’s time to eat, we’d rather step away from the crowds and into a different world. Since 1985, Tandoor at Holiday Inn has been catering to hotel guests and locals alike. The restaurant’s approach respects North Indian cuisine while serving the dishes in a modern ambience.

The understated hues of the decor are accented by backlit alabaster walls featuring jaali. This is a latticed screen typical of Indian architecture. Meanwhile, traditional inlay mirrors cover the twin pillars. But at Holiday Inn’s Tandoor, the focus is on food. You can watch chefs through full-length glass windows. Learn how they bake bread and rustle up kebabs in custom-made copper tandoors. Dishes also reflect the various regions in an extensive menu. Take it from us, and try the signature Martaban Ka Meat, a lamb tagine from Punjab.

Even the cocktails have an Indian theme. Try the Bollywood bellini, an addictive libation that’s made with lychees and champagne.
