Both Jaeger-LeCoultre watches are equipped with 70-hour automatic calibres, visible through the display caseback, and limited to 800 pieces each
For 30 years, Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Master Control Collection has been steadfast in its representation of the manufacture’s core values of timeless, classical elegance and technicality. These qualities continue to be the backbone of horological appreciation today. Inspired by the aesthetics of the 1950s, the simple, harmonious proportions of the Master Control Collection are still eminently suited to the dapper side of modern urbanity. The collection also introduced the 1000 Hours Control system, a mark of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s stringent quality control that has since been implemented across the entire product range.
The Master Control Collection now revisits the colour blue in the form of a pair of sunray-brushed dials for two of its 40mm stainless steel models. A handsome, modern shade, the subtle texture of the dial is especially evident in the Master Control Date (pictured at the top). The Master Control Calendar, in the meantime, is a traditional calendar layout with two windows for day and month and a centrally mounted jumping date hand. The date hand makes a 90-degree jump between the 15th and 16th of the month so as to never obstruct the moonphase indicator that accompanies the small seconds at six o’clock.
The uncluttered design philosophy, which favours radial lines and clean tapers, makes for good legibility even on the information-dense Master Control Calendar. Colour-matched backgrounds for the window indications are a small but pleasant touch, an oft-overlooked point—but not for Jaeger-LeCoultre. Both watches are equipped with 70-hour automatic calibres, visible through the display caseback, and are limited to 800 pieces each.
