Tiffany and Co. explores the league of youth with its new gender-fluid bracelet collection Tiffany Lock for the first time in its 200-year history

What separates femininity and masculinity? As the line between gender roles continue to blur in the world of fashion, Tiffany and Co. attempts to challenge gender stereotypes as it reveals its latest collection, Tiffany Lock.

“No Rules. All Welcome.” is the ethos fuelling the launch of its Lock Collection. Consisting of four combinations of gender-neutral bracelets—white gold, yellow gold, rose gold and pavé diamonds, they were designed with intent of inclusivity and togetherness. The American jewellery house continues its signature padlock motif with the reimagination of its latest collection. The clasp is equipped with an innovative swivelling mechanism that unlocks the bracelet, echoing the functionality of a padlock.

“It’s all about unity, belonging, the universal bonds that tie us together forever—and the open-minded spirit of today’s generation,” says Alexandre Arnault, Tiffany’s executive vice president of product and communication.

According to Arnault, the youth of this generation calls for a more elegant, clean lined and elongated design to make it universally appealing to both men and women. Paired with the combination of an 18 karat gold brace, the latest launch by Tiffany’s and Co. is sure to turn the heads of all genders.

When asked whether he thinks all jewellery in the future will be gender-neutral, Arnault demurs. Certain collections, like Tiffany’s HardWear, were originally intended for women, “but you see a lot of men wearing it now,” he says—and he is sure there are gentlemen out there flaunting Elsa Peretti’s bone cuff; after all, he has already seen them sporting that designer’s Diamonds by the Yard chains.

However, he adds, “I don’t expect our high-jewellery clients to be men anytime soon—it is still very feminine, and at the moment, 100 per cent of those clients are women,”

The four Tiffany Lock Bracelet styles will be made available at Tiffany & Co. stores globally this month, and can also be purchased through its online store. Additional Tiffany Lock styles will launch starting January 2023. The price for each bracelet will cost between US$6,800 to US$32,000.
