Dining pop-up: Le Matin Patisserie collaborate with OWIU Goods, a design and ceramics studio from Los Angeles

By Hannah Choo 30 October, 2024

This 9 to 10 November 2024, guests are invited on a multi-sensory dining journey, where the artistry of ceramics and sculpture harmonise with the art of patisserie

Pastry chef Mohamed Al-Matin has one heck of a resume. The 35-year-old, who’s worked with some of the best kitchens in the world—Noma, Adriano Zumbo Patisserie and Restaurant Andre)—is known for viennoiseries. His buttery kouign-amann is a godsend, and his canelé, which despite eschewing all traditions of baking with beeswax and copper moulds, tastes just like the real deal.

He ran Le Matin (his pastry store) for a while, till it shuttered earlier this year for reasons unknown. Until the next big thing, you will find him fronting an upcoming dining pop-up at Rappu on Duxton Road, over a weekend.

From 9 to 10 November 2024, he will lead the charge at Après, an intimate dessert experience and exclusive collaboration with OWIU Goods, a design and ceramics studio by a Los Angeles-based architectural firm. Founded by Amanda Gunawan and Joel Wong, two Singapore-born designers, Après will be a showcase of a diverse and global perspective that is unique to Singapore.

Available at lunch and dinner, guests will be invited on a multi-sensory dining journey, where the artistry of ceramics and sculpture harmonise with the art of patisserie. Over two hours, you will indulge your senses with an experience that evokes the “beauty of raw simplicity and deep connection to earth”. Flavours are aplenty, ranging from ricotta and fig to kombu, bone marrow and more.

The menu starts at S$148 per head, with the option for non-alcoholic and alcoholic pairings. Book here.
