A legacy revived: Emerging from a six-year hiatus, the all-new Vanquish is now a V12 luxury beast at the pinnacle of the marque’s illustrious front-engined sports car lineage
Not many cars can boast of multiple appearances on the silver screen quite like the Aston Martin Vanquish. Case in point: the original 2001 Vanquish starred in Die Another Day, driven by James Bond himself; other notable appearances were also made in the films Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and The Italian Job. Being one of Aston Martin’s most revered throughout the marque’s 111-year history, the Vanquish’s storied reputation is a symbol of elegance, performance, and exclusivity. And to revive such an iconic nameplate could very well be a tall order, but the all-new Vanquish managed to rise to the occasion–in more ways than one, too.
Following a six-year hiatus, this legendary model’s re-introduction was a triumphant one: not only was it marked as the pinnacle of Aston Martin’s core sports-car lineup, it has also been crowned the luxury automaker’s halo model, showcasing Aston Martin’s technological and engineering prowess. Limited to a production quantity of only 1,000 units annually, the third-generation Vanquish is still ensuring its legacy, but as a modern day halo model. Best of the best, and only for the discerning.
Central to its revival is what lays under the hood: a bespoke 5.2-litre twin-turbo V-12, developed in-house by Aston Martin and unique to the Vanquish for now. It’s also touted to be the “most potent V12 ever” in Aston Martin production cars. With the capability of producing numbers like 823 hp, 1000 Nm of torque, and blasts up to a top speed of 344 km/h. Blistering performance aside, the new Vanquish has set a new benchmark for luxury supercars: to marry raw power with refined engineering seamlessly.
In keeping with its cinematic flair, the Vanquish’s silhouette exudes drama and elegance in equal measure. With an 80mm wheelbase extension, its elongated proportions give rise to its commanding presence. The design philosophy nods to Aston Martin’s racing heritage, such as the sculpted tail rear and bonnet louvres–both of which also serve aesthetic and aerodynamic purposes. Inside, the cabin blends innovation with ultra-luxe. Expect opulent hand-finished materials, from supple leather to tactile metal controls, enhancing the futuristic yet timeless appeal within the cockpit.
Production numbers may be limited, but Aston Martin has ensured–and assured–the Vanquish is anything but restrained. With every detail ranging from design to technology meticulously engineered, the new Vanquish has indubitably earned its rightful place as the halo model. And with its S$2.2 million price tag (excluding COE), it may just stand as a coveted masterpiece for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
Marked by unmatched performance and luxury, while still retaining its storied heritage and essence, this reimagined and reborn Vanquish will surely leave an indelible mark on automotive history.
