Tanjong Pagar is now home to one of Singapore’s most stunning drinking stops – Set of Six
From the owners of Binomio, a popular tapas place on Craig Road, comes Set of Six, a new cocktail bar just a stone’s throw away. Tucked inside an unassuming condo, the bar is on its way to becoming one of the best spots in the area, if not the city. Dark, sultry and sexy for dates, and campy enough for a night out with friends, the Joseph Conrad novel-inspired bar takes references from his sea voyages to the Far East and the Vidar, the boat he sailed in with captain James Craig (who is what Craig Road was named after).
As a nod to the secret passageways and caches of Conrad’s past, the space welcomes you into a tiny apothecary shop that gives way to a lounge of monkey light fixtures, rustic furnishings of the 1880s, a giant disco ball and a hidden private dining room that supplies Champagne at the press of a button.
On the menu, there are 12 cocktails sectioned into six stories (we liked The Mutiny, a rum-forward cocktail spiked with apricot, absinthe and pineapple), lots of gin, rum and whisky, and excellent sharing dishes. Generously portioned and taking cues from across the world, must-orders include the Lobster Ravioli, Cured Spanish Mackerel, Triple-Cooked Chips and Sea Bass Ceviche – all whipped up by Gonzalo Landin, who also plays DJ at Set of Six and executive chef at Binomio.
