The relocated Bonhams headquarters defines a new cultural experience at one of New York’s most storied addresses
After decades on Madison Avenue, the Bonhams US headquarters has found a new home at the landmarked Steinway Hall at 111 West 57th Street, New York. Spanning 3,902 square metres across four storeys, the 230-year-old auction house‘s newer and bigger flagship defines a new cultural and collector experience at one of New York’s most storied addresses. The historic Steinway Rotunda is reunited with the soaring 24-metre glass atrium, offering a lens into the heart of the auction house, which you can’t miss, with the world’s thinnest skyscraper rising above.

Purpose-built to accommodate its 60-over sales categories, the new headquarters will also be home to state-of-the-art auction rooms, on-site storage facilities, client reception areas and workspace for the staff. The opening is inaugurated with a month-long programme of exhibitions and sales that point to the building’s historic and contemporary architecture. Think landmark musical heritage and major works of 20th- and 21st-century art and design; a reflection of Bonhams’ cross-category expertise and commitment to making art and beyond more accessible.
“Opening our new US flagship marks a defining moment for Bonhams,” said Lilly Chan, managing director of Bonhams US. “This building enables a more experiential approach to the way we engage with collectors, audiences and partners—bringing together exhibitions, auctions and public programming in a far more expansive and meaningful way.”
