Capella Singapore rolls out its first-ever Afternoon Tea

By Weixian Low 26 June, 2026

Craving something a little more savoury for your weekend afternoon tea? Capella Singapore’s new spread answers with lobster rolls, smoked salmon sandwiches and just enough pineapple to keep things interesting

Capella Singapore is finally entering the afternoon tea chat, and it is doing so with all the poise you would expect from one of the island’s most polished addresses. Launching on 26 June 2026, the resort’s first official Afternoon Tea experience will be served at Tanah Merah I right outside Cassia in one of its restored colonial bungalows dating back to the 1880s. If ever there were a setting designed to make a pot of tea feel more glamorous, this would be it.

The new offering arrives today with a quietly clever historical nod. Timed to coincide with International Pineapple Day, the menu draws inspiration from Sentosa’s lesser-known past as a pineapple plantation. Mercifully, this does not mean an afternoon of aggressively themed novelty desserts. Instead, the tropical reference is handled with restraint, appearing in refined touches such as pineapple sorbet with lemongrass consommé and lime cremeux and freshly baked scones served with house-made pineapple jam.

The experience is further complemented by a curated tea programme featuring Capella Singapore’s Signature White Peony and Melon tea. Photo by Capella Singapore

There is also plenty here for those who believe afternoon tea should lean savoury. The sandwich selection includes ASC Norwegian smoked salmon with garden herb mayonnaise, roasted chicken with lemon and thyme mayonnaise, egg remoulade with mustard cress, and Japanese cucumber with herb creme cheese and shiso. Then there is the Brittany blue lobster roll with cocktail sauce, which rather decisively signals that this is not the sort of tea set designed to leave you hunting for a second lunch an hour later.

On the sweeter side, Capella keeps things classic but polished. Expect pastries such as blueberry religieuse with mascarpone chantilly, an exotic petit gateau, Valrhona Guanaja 70% chocolate macarons with Earl Grey, and Amalfi lemon madeleines served tableside (our favourite pick of the lot). The tea programme is equally considered, spanning the resort’s Signature White Peony and Melon tea alongside staples such as Jade Sword, Earl Grey, English Breakfast and Chrysanthemum.

Served every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Afternoon Tea at Capella Singapore is priced at S$88++ per adult and S$44++ per child aged 12 and under. For those who prefer their tea with a little more ceremony, Champagne and caviar pairings are available too. As weekend rituals go, this one seems particularly easy to commit to.
