The newly revamped Capella Singapore manors promise a lavish stay filled with intimate splendour
As arbiters of luxury, we’re often asked what separates the highest echelons of hospitality from the rungs below. While a multitude of tangible and intangible factors must be considered, the essence of a world-class stay often comes down to this: a grandiose experience that still feels intimate and personalised.

Capella Singapore, it seems, has received the memo. Cocooned within the lush shores of Sentosa Island, the property—boasting three revamped standalone bungalows, each measuring more than 500sqm—has long been synonymous with sophistication. The refreshed manors, now with interior spaces put together by some of the world’s most esteemed designers, promise to deliver the purest expression of this philosophy.
This sense of lavish intimacy is best presented within the 576 sq m Capella Manor. Located on the outskirts of the resort, the two-storey bungalow—sporting a modern and boxy exterior—offers privacy and tranquillity. Beyond its three en suite bedrooms, the manor also boasts separate living and dining areas as well as an outdoor terrace with a private lap pool surrounded by lush flora.

It is, however, the Capella Manor’s interiors that make the strongest impression. Redesigned by renowned Australian designer Simone Haag, they feature a neutral and soft colour palette and delicately patterned wallpapers that lull guests into a leisurely repose. The subtle design elements—coupled with the meticulously curated furnishings that include a custom rug in earthy tones with flowing, organic patterns and a Pelle Lure Lantern that casts leaf-shaped shadows—create a plenitude of visual intrigue.
Past Glories
While the Capella Manor caters to contemporary tastes, the two Colonial Manors, with new interiors designed by Matthew Shang Design Office (MSDO), are rich with historical appeal. Dating back to the 1880s, the black-and-white bungalows once served as residences for British officers. Measuring 500 sq m across two floors, the Colonial Manors have three bedrooms with en suite bathrooms; separate living, study and dining areas; and a private pool.

MSDO has strived to retain the heritage of the buildings while imbuing the space with the sensibilities of the modern globetrotter. Maps of an older Singapore, thoughtfully positioned throughout the interiors, offer subtle nods to the Colonial Manors’ storied past, while hand-knotted Persian rugs and tropical-inspired accents lend a sense of depth and texture.
The classy and luxurious designs of the new manors may dominate initial impressions, but Capella Singapore also promises guests the kind of attentive and highly personalised service that often distinguishes an experience. Each manor is overseen by a manor culturist, whose role is to anticipate guests’ needs and tailor every detail of their stay. Whether they seek a private yoga session on the terrace or would like a private dim sum masterclass with the resort’s chefs, the manor culturist would be ready to assist.

Renewed and refreshed, Capella’s manors appear poised to appeal to a variety of travellers. Families will appreciate the spacious layouts and generous communal areas that balance connection with privacy, while couples can enjoy the intimacy of their secluded interiors and private pools that are perfect for leisurely afternoons amid Sentosa’s lush greenery.
