The 70-seater restaurant and bar has over 800 labels of wines on offer, including obscure labels like Stéphane Bernaudeau
It’s easy to find yourself in Robertson Quay these days, considering the recent increase in quality tenants who have moved to the area. New Bahru, for one, is a high school-turned-creative hub of food, retail and culture. The brainchild of The Lo & Behold Group, it is home to well-loved, homegrown concepts like Átipico, Bar Bon Funk, One Fattened Calf Burgers and others more.
Just this week, it welcomed a new member to the family. Le Clos – Wine House & Restaurant, previously known as Clos Pasoh, will be a magnet for all wine lovers. The 70-seater restaurant and bar has it all, with over 800 labels of wines acquired from growers and boutique wineries. The collection ranges far and wide, from the easy and approachable to the obscure, such as Stéphane Bernaudeau and Domaine Labet.
“Each bottle in our selection is the result of a meaningful partnership with winemakers and suppliers who share our commitment to quality,” says founder Jean-Christophe Cadoret, the same man behind Galiena Fine Wines. “Our expertise lies in grower champagnes and fine wines, predominantly from France, but we also embrace exceptional selections from other renowned regions… We celebrate small family-owned vineyards and established estates alike—people who pour their hearts into their craft.”
The quality of wine is an easy draw, but Le Clos is also betting on guests staying for the food. Comforting French fare is on the menu, with highlights including a reimagined croque monsieur (Croq’ Basque Chorizo, Confit Onions and Roasted Piquillo Peppers); Morisseau Mussels, Vin Jaune Marinière and Homemade Fries (thrice-cooked, mind you); and the Macka’s M4 + OP Rib Black Angus, a Josper-grilled steak frites. Wash it down with more wine on the outdoor terrace, where a game of pétanque awaits.
