Open from morning to night, Club Street Laundry aims to offer a dining experience that celebrates immigrant culture, all within a space where history and present day converge
The low-down
Club Street was given its name for good reason. Back in the late 19th and 20th centuries, it was home to an abundance of Chinese social clubs, such as the Chui Lan Teng Club, a businessman’s networking paradise, and the Ee Hoe Hean Club, an exclusive club founded in 1895 for the wealthy elite. Whichever establishment one was part of, it offered community and support, and a way to celebrate their heritage.
As a way to rekindle this spirit of unity, Club Street Laundry was born. Located on 98 Club Street, it offers a space for Singapore’s diverse “second-generation immigrants” to come together, create new traditions and partake in the spirit of community that’s defined the area for generations. Open from morning to night, the restaurant aims to offer a unique dining experience that celebrates immigrant culture, all within a space where history and present day converge.

The food and drink
Club Street Laundry is a modern Australian eatery, shaped by global inspirations and Aussie pride. Led by Melbourne-trained Justin Hammond, who previously cooked at Underdog Inn and Neon Pigeon, the menu—both food and drink—invites diners to savour the world with every sip and bite. Enjoy Chicken Schnitzel, Pork Bone Broth Soup, or Lamb Pastrami at brunch, and dive deep into a Tabbouleh Salad or Flame-Grilled Beef Cheeks at dinner. Add on a cocktail on tap or one of its many wines (the Cordero di Montezemolo Barolo 2020, for instance), and end the meal with a refreshing tea soda.

The rest
No night at Club Street Laundry is complete without a night cap (or more, if we’re being honest) at Hup San Social Club, an intimate 12-seat bar managed by the spunky beverage director, June Baek. Meaning ‘harmony life’ in Mandarin, the bar takes cue from the early Chinese immigrants who were famous for building their own underground sanctuaries. ‘Do What Brings You Joy’, as its debut menu proclaims, and enjoy a dangerously crafted cocktail that goes far beyond great taste.
