It seems only fitting that Chongqing, otherwise known as China’s mountain city, has welcomed a new, towering building (both in name and stature) to its already impressive skyline. Opened on 23 August 2024, the 55-storey Conrad Chongqing is the first hotel to carry the Conrad flag in the city, and is Hilton’s 700th property in Greater China.

The skyscraper sports a sleek and modern façade, with its boxy silhouette accentuated by bright lights that run across its exterior. Designed by the renowned Cheng Chung Design (CCD) of Hong Kong, the hotel houses 275 rooms and 26 opulent suites that have been designed to maximise the city’s dramatic topology. Dressed in muted tones of creams and grey, the rooms let the breathtaking views of the city’s mountains take centre stage, maximising the effect with an array of floor-to-ceiling windows.

Epicureans will be happy to hear that the hotel houses several distinct dining experiences, located on the 52nd and 53rd floors. If you’re a fan of Sichuan flavours, the hotel’s Yu Chinese Restaurant will appeal—serving modern interpretations of beloved dishes like braised beef ribs and fish slices with mandarin orange peels.

For a more eclectic spread, The Peak, the hotel’s all-day dining restaurant offers contemporary menus and a buffet as well. And if you’re looking to unwind, there’s even a hidden speakeasy that serves bespoke cocktails made by expert mixologists.

Beyond its opulent accommodations and dining options, Conrad Chongqing also welcomes the business traveller. With almost 3,000 square metres of event space, including a stunning outdoor sky garden, the hotel has been designed to be an appealing venue for business conferences, forums, and other such occasions. Paired with Hilton’s signature hospitality, the hotel appears set to become a landmark in a city already known for its towering achievements.
