Cosentino partners with Formafantasma to launch Earthic by Silestone XM

The partnership between Cosentino and Formafantasma marks a milestone in the realm of luxurious, eco-conscious surfaces

A new era in sustainable design dawns as Cosentino, a global leader in innovative surfaces for architecture and design, collaborates with Italian studio Formafantasma to unveil Earthic by Silestone XM.

Launched during Milan Design Week in April, Earthic by Silestone XM–divided into two series, FFROM x FORMAFANTASMA and RAW x Cosentino Studio–redefines the boundaries of surface design. At its core, this collection embodies the ethos of sustainability, blending unconventional and reclaimed materials to craft surfaces that prioritise environmental responsibility as much as aesthetic appeal.

Earthic is a capsule collection that offers a new concept design, with an advanced composition of up to 30% recycled materials including: recycled glass, PET, bio-resin and Dekton® fragments. Photo by Cosentino

At the heart of the product lies a groundbreaking green approach to surface creation. Using Cosentino’s proprietary Hybriq+ technology, Earthic surfaces are crafted with a maximum crystalline silica content of just 10%, utilising 100% renewable electrical energy and 99% recycled water. Additionally, the collection boasts up to 30% recycled materials, including recycled glass, PET, bio-resin, and discarded Dekton fragments.

The use of post-consumer bio-resin derived from vegetable and recycled cooking oils, alongside recycled plastic bottles, further exemplifies a commitment to rethinking waste and turning it into something beautiful and functional.

Within the historic walls of Teatro Gerolamo, an architectural gem built in 1868, Cosentino and Formafantasma presented Earthic Lab to launch Earthic during Milan Design Week 2024. Photo by Cosentino

The Earthic Lab, presented within the historic walls of Teatro Gerolamo during Milan Design Week, offered a multi-sensory journey into the ethos of the collection. Amid ethereal music, evocative lighting, and dynamic video presentations, visitors were transported to a lunar landscape that challenged perceptions of beauty and sustainability in design. This innovative presentation earned a Special Mention in the Technology category at the prestigious Fuorisalone Awards, recognising its significant contribution to the design sector.
