Dior and Baccarat have joined forces to give one beloved men’s fragrance a refreshing update
One of Dior’s most compelling scents has a new tailor-made bottle to match.
The brand’s Sauvage Elixir fragrance debuted in 2021 with notes of cardamom, nutmeg, cinnamon, and licorice. The original bottle has a sophisticated dark navy hue, housing a scent that’s ideal for the office. The cologne is now being offered in 200 limited-edition crystal containers, made in collaboration with Baccarat.
The fragrance’s new 17 oz. bottle is the polar opposite of its predecessor with a clear, un-tinted exterior. Minimalist lines curve along its base and bottle cap, allowing the blue liquid to pop. Artisan glassmakers created a “perfect neck” for the bottle and a base that is curved but not overly thick. Next up, a master engraver refined the bottle to “illuminate its crystalline clarity and make it gleam,” according to the French fashion label.
Engraving the lid results in three fine matte lines etched into the crystal for contrast against the bottle’s shine. The brand initials are featured in matte at top as well. Final touches to the special-edition bottles include buffing and polishing for maximum shine. Additionally, palladium metal is used to display the name Sauvage. The letters are applied with a brush and subtly mirrored by a fine line of palladium tracing around the lid.
Once the crystal bottles are all set, they are added to a solid oak presentation box in black, creating an appealing contrast. The presentation box isn’t just a counterpoint, however; it also echoes the fragrance’s intense, woody scent.
Of course, all that artisanal glasswork doesn’t come cheap. The new Dior Sauvage Elixir x Baccarat – Special Edition bottle will set you back $8,200. For those undaunted by the prospect of paying four figures for a cologne, it’s available now online.
