Check Mate
Hoping to strike a blow against Apple and Samsung is the new Huawei Mate 10. It will be available in three flavours – the standard Mate 10, the Mate 10 Pro and one styled by Porsche Design (S$888, S$1,098 and S$2,298).
As with its predecessor, Mate 10 sports Leica front- and rear-facing cameras that, coupled with a 5.9-inch and 6-inch HDR10 screen in the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro should make photos and videos truly pop.
A 4,000mAh battery powers all three devices, larger even than the 3,500mAh one found in the Samsung Galaxy S8+.
But how Huawei truly plans to trump its main rivals is its in-house developed Kirin 970 chip. Featuring AI machine learning, it can recognise what you’re shooting and adjust the camera accordingly. Another upshot to this is how its powerful processor can be hooked up to a large screen for use as an ultra-portable desktop.
