With roughly 100 carefully selected modern, classic and racing cars on display, Grand Basel is set to impress

Joining the ranks of Concours d’Elegance, Goodwood Festival of Speed and Quail Motorsports Gathering comes the first edition of Grand Basel, running from 6 — 9 September in its namesake Swiss city of Basel.

From the minds that gave you Art Basel, Grand Basel aims, in their words, to “present exceptional cars in the contexts of art, design, architecture and lifestyle”. In short, be to the automotive world what Art Basel is to the art world.

And like Art Basel, some of the cars displayed at Grand Basel are up for sale. The cars exhibited at Grand Basel will be an eclectic bunch, comprising vintage icons like the Aston Martin DB4 Zagato, Ferrari 250 GT, Lamborghini Miura and Porsche 550 RS Spyder, modern specials like the Ferrari SP38 and ‘restomods’ like the Lancia Delta Integrale Futurista. Even significant race cars will make a showing there, such as the Benetton-Ford B194, the car which Michael Schumacher used to win his first Formula One driver’s championship title.

Tickets for Grand Basel are available online, with prices ranging from SFr23 (S$32) for an evening day ticket (valid for one day, from 4.30pm onwards) to SFr110 (S$153) for all-days access.

If you can’t make it down to Basel, don’t worry, because Grand Basel is planning to expand globally. A Miami edition is planned for 22-24 February 2019, with another to follow in Hong Kong in May 2019.
