A generous splash of red and ornate motifs to usher in the Year of the Snake
Hennessy is no stranger to creative collaborations. To welcome the Lunar New Year of the Snake, the legendary 260-year-old French cognac house has tapped into the mind of Qiu Shuting, billed as one of today’s most exciting young fashion designers, to dress up its most iconic bottles—V.S.O.P, X.O, and Paradis.
As it is with previous collaborations with celebrated artists such as Yang Yongliang and Yan Pei-Ming (for Chinese New Year 2024 and 2023, respectively), Hennessy has given Qiu carte blanche to redecorate the bottles, which are issued as commemorative limited editions.
The exclusive collection, appropriately christened ‘Reimagination’, is adorned in vibrant red and accented with gold and purple hues, as well as floral and snake-scale patterns inspired by jacquard, brocade, and embroidery originating from Qiu’s hometown, Hangzhou.
“The Hennessy carafes are classics, and this is similar to fashion in that every brand has its classic silhouettes, unique designs and colours,” says Shanghai-based Qiu, who established her eponymous label in 2018. A graduate from the Royal Academy in Antwerp, Qiu’s experimental silhouettes and eye-catching colour palettes have garnered interests from the likes of Adidas, Estée Lauder, and singer Jolin Tsai, who have enlisted her for collaborations.
“Hennessy has a long-lasting connection with Chinese culture, grounded in 164 years of shared history. Qiu’s designs epitomise a harmonious fusion of tradition and contemporary flair, offering with elegance a fitting homage to our common cultural heritage,” says Laurent Boillot, CEO of Hennessy.
