Handcrafted in Japan and fitted with premium Italian lenses, the second Jil Sander x Oliver Peoples collection explores the tension between precision and fluidity
First unveiled in February at Jil Sander’s Fall Winter 2026 runway show in Milan, the inaugural collection comprised six distinct sunglass styles in titanium and acetate. For Collection 2, the collaboration returns with three new designs that retain the original’s considered craftsmanship while taking a softer, more organic approach to form
Where Collection 1 was defined by linear geometry, sharp contrasts, and angular edges, its successor favours rounded contours and fluid silhouettes that follow the natural lines of the face. The shift is instinctive rather than ornamental. “This collection was born as an instinctive gesture, with movements that soften the eyewear object, rounding it and making it less rigid, more sinuous,” notes creative director of Jil Sander, Simone Bellotti.
The colour palette follows suit, moving away from the restraint of the first release towards more expressive hues and high-contrast frame-and-lens combinations.

“It’s a collection that plays on contradictions: extreme Japanese precision for an organic, fluid feel; or, for example, the acetate frame of Edition 9, which counterintuitively widens toward the bottom. These are glasses that interact with the face, following its shapes with harmonious lines,” Bellotti continues.
That interplay extends beyond the silhouette. Comfort is integral to the construction, with Edition 9 also featuring streamlined temples and distinctive sculpted tips designed for a considered fit. Branding, meanwhile, remains deliberately understated. Minimal gold engravings lend a subtle signature, from vintage-inspired lettering on the right temple to handcrafted in Japan inscribed on the drop-shaped tip.

Edition 7 revisits a classic silhouette through a more sculptural lens. Rounded eyewires are overlaid with a contoured top bar that sweeps across the frame, meeting a shaped bridge and low-set endpieces. Specially designed curved temples introduce a distinctive line that accentuates the profile of both frame and face, flowing into sinuous, sculpted tips. Vintage-inspired adjustable nose pads and proprietary Oliver Peoples glass lenses complete the design.

Edition 10 takes a softer approach still. Handcrafted in sculpted acetate, its rounded, subtly upswept silhouette is defined by fluid contours and a sense of movement. Curved temples flow seamlessly into sculpted tips, lending the frame a refined, almost effortless profile. As with Edition 9, collaboration branding is discreetly engraved on the inner temples, while universal-fit nose pads and proprietary glass lenses bring the design to completion.
Across Collection 2, the language is one of considered contrasts: precision tempered by softness, structure balanced with movement. Rather than treating eyewear as a purely functional object, Jil Sander and Oliver Peoples approach each frame as an extension of the face.
