The road to victory with Corvette

By Special Feature 15 October, 2025

From a royal vision to a professional force backed by Corvette, Johor Motorsports Racing is redefining the scene in Asia, one podium at a time

Some stories in motorsport are written on racetracks, others in the grit of the paddocks. For Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR), it began with a vision: His Highness Prince Jefri Ibrahim’s dream of competing at the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. Founded in 2019, JMR has grown from an ambitious start-up into one of the region’s most respected independent racing teams, now taking its boldest stride yet with Corvette.

The 2025 season marks a defining chapter: JMR debuted the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R, the only Corvette GT3 entry in Asia. For Prince Jefri and his younger brother, His Highness Prince Abu Bakar Ibrahim, who joined the team in 2022, this is both a culmination and a new beginning: a championship-winning experience fused with Corvette’s racing heritage. The Z06 GT3.R, engineered for endurance, carries JMR’s hopes towards podiums across Asia and ultimately to Le Mans.

For Prince Jefri, Corvette embodies performance, resilience, and heritage. To represent that in Asia is an honour and a responsibility to pair results with talent development. JMR’s ambitions extend beyond trophies. The team is committed to raising motorsport standards in the region and opening pathways for drivers, engineers, and technicians, especially in Malaysia and Singapore, where access to the sport remains limited. Winning matters, but building a sustainable ecosystem is what JMR believes will shape the future.

That philosophy has already translated into results. From a history-making debut victory at Sepang to outright wins in Buriram, Thailand, and Fuji, Japan, JMR has proved itself a contender. Mid-season tallies speak for themselves: three Pro-Am wins, three overall victories, Prince Jefri leading the Pro-Am Drivers’ Championship, and the team in second place overall as of July.

Every great team has its defining car. For JMR, it is the Z06 GT3.R. A machine of speed and substance, it reflects the shared values of brand and team: performance rooted in heritage,
and engineering dedicated to progress. For JMR, success is measured not only in trophies, but in milestones: a dream conceived in 2019, a professional independent programme launched in 2025, and victories already secured across Asia. With Corvette, the trajectory is clear and the
destination unmistakable.
