The Lexus lifestyle now has a water vessel – unofficially known as the Lexus Sports Yacht – for some maritime diversity, envisioned by the Toyota Marine Department and built by Marquis Yachts as a one-of-one proof of concept.

Penned at the Lexus Design Centre in Japan, the brief outlined an open sport yacht for recreational day leisure for six to eight guests with the aesthetic character of the luxury marque. Construction heavy in carbon-fibre reinforced plastic — similar to world-class racing sailboats — keeps weight down and strength up for the 42-footer.

Power comes courtesy of twin 5.0-litre V8 engines based on those found in the Lexus RC F coupe and the new LC 500 grand tourer. Each outputs over 440 horsepower to propel the Sport Yacht to a maximum speed of 43 knots while a joystick-controlled bow thruster simplifies docking.

At the helm of the Lexus Sports Yacht, a colour touchscreen panel is the interface for onboard systems and controls with a captain’s chair featuring armrests which double as fold-out jump seats. Entertainment tech includes fully networked AV entertainment with 4G, WiFi and WAN connectivity experienced through Mark Levinson and Revolution Acoustics hardware using the ceiling panel as a transducer.

Within the forward passenger cabin — appointed in Lexus leather and equally luxurious wood detailing — one finds sofa seating for six complete with a table. The galley carries a twin-burner stove, sink, refrigerator and shower.
