Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creatives announces finalists
The inaugural edition of the Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creatives is off to a good start. Out of nearly 1,000 submissions from independent watchmakers, five finalists have been selected. The chosen ones, including a desk calendar and mechanical bee with a ‘stinger’ poetics hours indicator, will be presented to a jury at the Fondation Louis Vuitton on 6 February 2024, where the winner will be announced in the evening. The jury includes Singaporeans Michael Tay, group managing director of The Hour Glass, and Jiaxian Su, the founder of SJX Watches.
Music to the ears
Over-ear headphones seem to be back, and we are all for it. For a quality set of cans for the fashion conscious, Celine’s first-ever wireless headphones will be music to the ears. Made in collaboration with American audio company Master & Dynamic (yep, that’s the ticket), the headphones are equipped with quick pairing technology and up to 30 hours of battery life. Available in three colourways—black, black and silver, and tan and silver—the headphones also boast a lightweight anodised aluminium structure and buttery lambskin leather. Coming to you soon for the price tag of S$1,350.
Montblanc gears up for the Year of the Dragon
The Lunar New Year isn’t for another month, but Montblanc is ready to celebrate. To prepare for the Year of the Dragon, the luxury Maison has brought us the joyous gift of fine craftsmanship, from a selection of leather goods in auspicious red (our eyes are on the Meisterstück 149 Bag) to a new watch with zero oxygen technology. Limited to 1,990 pieces, the Montblanc 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen South Pole Exploration is a hardy watch that pays homage to Reinhold Messner, the first person to cross Antarctica on foot, making it a fitting reminder to make this next new year a great success.
Chanel’s Coco Crush campaign debuts tomorrow
Keep your eyes peeled for the new Coco Crush campaign, set to debut tomorrow, 9 January 2024. Featuring Chanel ambassadors like Lucy Boynton and Jennie Kim, this campaign celebrates the encounters that changed Gabrielle Chanel’s destiny, and embodies these encounters with simple and delicate creations that go a long way. New Coco Crush pieces include a new single earring in white gold, and mini bracelets that feature diamonds (if so desired) and the rotating, invisible Coco Twist clasp.
Paul Smith and Braun make a Swiss watch
This recent watch collaboration comes as no accident. Paul Smith has always been a fan of Braun and its collection of modernist, Bauhaus-inspired designs, and don’t forget the watch and two clocks both brands came up with in 2022. This time happens to be Braun’s first-ever Swiss-made watch, built with a restrained architectural aesthetic and a subtle splash of Paul Smith. The co-creation features a ETA 2895-2 Swiss movement in either a dark gunmetal or matte blasted steel case, with the latter made with a small seconds display. Yours for S$975.
Dior makes lines disappear
If age is showing and creeping into your skin, Dior’s Capture Totale Hyalushot is what you will need to reduce those lines in a hurry. Rich in Longoza extract and a patented hyaluronic acid duo (that’s said to be three times as beneficial as a hyaluronic injection), it’s a powerful treatment that targets with precision, so effects are as instant and impressive as 45 per cent less wrinkles in four hours. Yours for S$146 at all Dior Beauty boutiques and counters, on the Dior Beauty online boutique, and Sephora.
