In our weekly series, we bring you the latest in luxury news around the world. This week’s highlights: Fairmont unveils new openings, Rimowa partners Mykita, and Loewe’s Madrid

The Macallan distills Hong Kong
In the latest release of its Distil Your World series, The Macallan celebrates Hong Kong, a city that respects tradition as much as the need to reinvent itself. Bringing the acclaimed Roca brothers into the picture, the owners of El Celler de Can Roca, The Macallan distills the city’s essence into a single malt whisky and culinary experience that are quite exceptional. A rich and sweet whisky features the boldness of dried spices, with layers contributing to a rich and multifaceted experience that mirrors the city’s dynamic nature, while the menu captures the city’s soul with a myriad of flavours through scallop and sea urchin rice rolls, prawn roe mousse, and more. Yours for S$6,500.

Rimowa and Mykita launch eyewear collection
In this unprecedented partnership, Rimowa has collaborated with German design house Mykita to launch an eyewear collection, based on a shared legacy of light but sturdy construction. Handcrafted in Mykita Haus in Berlin, the collaboration presents a new generation of sunglasses in two distinct concepts: The Heritage series (S$1,000) combines Mykita’s stainless steel craftsmanship with Rimowa’s aluminium technology, while the Visor series (S$870) boasts a sleek, ultra-lightweight shield that’s designed for life on the move. Available at all Rimowa and Mykita stores, and exclusive retail partners worldwide.

Loewe’s Madrid
Named after Loewe’s home city, where the Maison was founded in 1846, the Madrid made its debut on the spring/summer 2025 runway at the Château de Vincennes, Paris. Available in a variety of colours (black, dark burgundy, olive or burnt red) and three sizes, the Madrid is made with a buttery soft calfskin leather with generously pleated sides and tactile shoulder padding. An exaggerated zip adds an asymmetric twist while a magnetic fastening leads into a cosy soft Nappa leather interior.
