The 75-piece limited edition beats at a super-fast rate of 10 Hz, more than double the industry standard. Photo by Breguet

Breguet unveils the Expérimentale 1

Fresh off its top-prize win at the 2025 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève for the traditional Classique Souscription, Breguet pivots from the strictly historic to the futuristic with the Expérimentale 1. The 75-piece limited edition, with a constant-force escapement based on magnetic resistance, is Breguet’s first high-frequency tourbillon, beating at a super-fast rate of 10 Hz, or 72,000 vph, more than double the industry standard of 4 Hz/28,800 vph.

The new movement, Calibre 7250, involves two titanium escape-wheels, each equipped with a magnetic track. Between them is a pallet lever with magnetic—rather than jewelled—pallets. Regulation is created by the repulsion between the magnetic tracks on the escape wheels interacting with the magnets inside the pallets. The result is an extremely stable impulse to the balance throughout the power reserve, and zero friction in the escapement. Yours for CHF 320,000.

The First Light is the fourth entry in The Macallan’s A Night on Earth series. Photo by The Macallan

A Night on Earth: The First Light

Before you begin the countdown, be sure to have a bottle of this at the ready. A Night on Earth: The First Light, a celebration of the New Year in New Zealand, is a whisky designed to be gifted, shared and enjoyed with loved ones. Aged mostly in sherry-seasoned American and European oak with a touch of bourbon barrels, the whisky, though unmistakably Scottish at heart, acknowledges its Antipodean narrative with a finish that is sweet and fruity, with mellow spice and toasted oak.

La D de Dior

Launched in 2003 as the first jewellery watch by Victoire de Castellane, La D de Dior has been an icon of plural femininity and freedom of material, colour and proportion. This season’s timepiece, revealed with a sophisticated refresh, features a mother-of-pearl dial with an abstract interpretation of Dior’s signature Cannage geometry. It also comes in a limited-edition rainbow version with changing reflections and a pink satin strap that sparkles with precious stones.
