The Maritimo S50 exudes sportive simplicity

The Australian shipyard adds to its S series with the Maritimo S50

A prospective yacht owner can feel a little like being a kid in a candy shop. With Singapore quickly establishing itself as a regional yachting hub, many of the world’s finest shipyards are presenting models aimed at capturing the imagination of increasingly discerning owners.

While several vessels dazzle with dramatic styling or vast interior volumes, there is a distinct segment of buyers who prefer a vessel that prioritises ease of use, casual comfort and an effortless cruising experience.

It is for these candy-tempted buyers that Maritimo’s new S50 Sedan Motor Yacht—which will make its global debut at the 2026 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show—appears to be geared towards. The latest addition to the Australian shipyard’s S-Series, the sportive 15m vessel reflects Maritimo’s racing heritage and the brand’s long-standing commitment to building yachts with reliable, open-water capability.

In some ways, the S50’s sleek silhouette is evocative of another Maritimo model. Launched in May 2025, the 15.7m Maritimo M50 shares similar design cues.

Unlike the multi-decked M50 which emphasises vertical space and separation between living areas, however, the S50 offers a more streamlined experience. Its intimate single-level saloon, cockpit and galley form an uninterrupted sequence, creating a sense of continuity that suits owners who prefer intuitive practicality.

“We wanted the S50 to be more than just the M50’s smaller sibling,” says Neil McCabe, Maritimo’s design manager. “It’s a purpose-built sports motor yacht that’s spacious, sleek and entirely focused on the owner’s experience.”

From the outside, the S50 is defined by a clean, automotive-inspired profile. Adorned with a streamlined hardtop, it carries a more contemporary attitude than its predecessors.

Despite its relatively modest size, the vessel’s interior spaces promise to feel larger than expected. This is achieved through a single-level saloon and cockpit layout, generous headroom, and the use of slim-framed windows that draw in ample natural light.

This is most evident below deck, where two open and quietly luxurious staterooms await, with the owner’s stateroom boasting an ample headroom of 1.94m. Beneath its refined exterior, the S50 carries an underlying hull design informed by the proven engineering of the M50, now updated with lighter laminates and modern infusion processes to improve efficiency and seakeeping.

A quality, that for owners who desire a robust and seamless cruising experience, can only be good news.

“Owners of S-Series craft tend to be hands-on operators,” says Julian Villegas, Maritimo’s senior designer. “They want a boat that’s easy to run, easy to maintain, and doesn’t compromise on luxury. This is the brief the S50 answers.”
