Monaco Yacht Show to introduce Blue Wake, a new initiative that aims to spotlight environment-friendly innovations

Sustainability in yachting has become a buzzword—polished, packaged, and paraded around with increasing frequency. But as the line blurs between genuine progress and marketing gloss, the challenge lies in separating those driving change from those simply selling it.

The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) is taking steps to address that distinction. From 2025 onwards, the prestigious show will launch Blue Wake, a programme developed in collaboration with the Water Revolution Foundation to identify and spotlight companies that meet rigorous environmental standards. Rather than cordoning these efforts into a separate section, Blue Wake will weave them across the entire event, giving qualified solutions visibility within the show’s main footprint.

The initiative builds on the foundations laid by the Sustainability Hub, introduced in 2022. Located within the Darse Sud tent alongside marine technology exhibitors, the hub served as a platform for companies offering environmentally responsible innovations—from alternative propulsion systems to cleaner onboard operations. Blue Wake takes the same intent and extends its reach.

“Sustainability has become an essential driver of innovation in yachting,” says Gaëlle Tallarida, managing director of MYS. “With Blue Wake, we are reinforcing this commitment by ensuring that sustainability is an integral part of the event experience.”

Exhibitor details will follow in the lead-up to the 2025 show. But the framework is in place. In an industry still calibrating its response to environmental expectations, this is a small but deliberate shift—towards discernment, and away from the vague assurance that “sustainable” so often implies.
